A Real Inspiration

Photobucket

Purchased from/Copyright 123rf.com

I’ve always been a very visual person when it comes to my writing. I get inspired by watching people, movies, music videos and everything in between. My latest project has really given me a huge chance to be very inspired especially since the hero of the series is inspired by a real guy, a fighter.

I’ve been fortunate enough to spend time in different training facilities watching him turn his body and skills into the ultimate ass kicking machine. Even in the short period of time I’ve gotten to see all the hard work and dedication that goes into it all.

Each time I spend time observing and learning I take notes and end up getting so inspired with scenes and things for the book. It is my own personal muse tap. As long as I am around the setting of my story the ideas flow like crazy.

I’ve never done anything like this. Having to base a story on an actual person is so different from writing a fictional hero. You have to observe and really soak in the personality of your subject. You have to capture them on the page and make sure you get it right.

From day one I’ve been excited to take on this new project and do something different, even something out of my comfort zone. Why out of my comfort zone? Well, I’m use to working alone and creating stories that are from my imagination. This time that also applies but a real person is in the mix.

The experience so far has been out of this world and I can’t wait to tell you all more about it. You get to witness truly spectacular moments of greatness. I truly know that this is just the start of something big.

My question to all of you is, have you ever used a real person as an inspiration for a book? How did you find trying to capture him or her in your story? As a reader, do you mind if characters are inspired by actual people?

Halloween Is Almost Here

I’m so excited that Halloween is only a few days away. If you haven’t guessed it by now, this is my fave holiday. I know a lot of people love Christmas and stuff but I’m addicted to Halloween. Why? I think it is all because you get to dress up and decorate the house in freaky things.

Photobucket

Ever since I was a kid I always enjoyed dressing up and going out to collect candy. Now that I’m older…wayyyy older I love giving them out. It is a blast seeing all the little kids come by the house that is all done up and take pictures. They are always surprised that someone opens the door in full costume.

I’ve found that Halloween is not like it use to be when I was a kid. I remember going from house to house and they were decorated and people had fun with the holiday. There were tons of kids out with parents or friends running around trying to fill their bags with candy.

Now when we have kids at our house it is not as much. We are lucky if we get 20-30. Even though we have tons of kids in the area.

Has Halloween lost the fun?

I love doing all the fun stuff even if it is for the small group that stop over at our place. I’ve always wanted to do a huge haunted house and one day I hope to. I keep collecting stuff every single year. I think we have passed the collection of Christmas decorations..

So tell me do you enjoy celebrating Halloween?

What’s your fave memory of Halloween from when you were growing up?

Fear…why do we fear the unknown?

Photobucket

Photo purchased from/Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos

Fear..we’ve all experienced it at one point or another. We all have something we fear..Something that cripples us and does things to us we wish it wouldn’t.

When it comes to fear, why is it that we fear the unknown.

Lets say someone would make you walk into a graveyard in the middle of the night all alone…you would probably not want to go and if you did you would look around…

Even though you know nothing can harm you, you still have this feeling that takes over…

I would not even set foot into a cemetery in the middle of the night. Why? Honestly I’m not sure…I think they just creep me out, or maybe I’ve seen too many horror movies..LOL..

Or what if you walk into your house and it is dark..don’t your eyes look around?

Fear is something we can’t always control…it will leave you paralyzed and unable to move..It will cause panic and put you in a state where you can feel helpless and alone.

Our mind is a powerful tool and can do a lot to us…Make fear into something consuming and unbearable.

As children we fear because we don’t understand many things, but as adults we know that the fear is an emotion and we understand it. So why is it that we still let the fear feed off us and take over?

So tell me what do you fear? Does something scare you that you wish never did?

When The Muse Goes Nuts

Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos
Photo purchased from/ Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos

It has been a rocky year for me especially when it comes to writing. I’ve had to take books back from publishers,  re edit them and try to find a new home so that readers can once again enjoy them. I’ve had writers block, migraine hell and anything else that has been thrown my way.

But…yes there is a but..how can there not be a but….I’m still here and kicking it..

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of plotting for new projects. I once counted I had over 100 stories and notes scribbled down and after some time I stopped counting.

The last few weeks my muse…lets just say I’m not sure if it is a he or she since it seems to be moody at times has decided to bombard me with new ideas and plots for books.

Everyone keeps telling me, don’t you dare start a new book..I want to have you finish this and that. I know…So do I..There are so many books I’ve started and a some which are finished and in edit stage that are crying to me to be done.

Over the last month I’ve pretty much gotten a brand new idea everyday. There was a day where I plotted a 12 book series. Well most of it was plotted. In case you are wondering it is erotic romance and sci-fi genre. I love my sci-fi and have wanted to do that for the longest time.

Some days I would get 2-3 ideas from my muse and the funny thing is the genre’s were so far apart.

I don’t know if I’m the only one but honestly my brain does not want to shut off. I lie down to go to sleep at night and it is like there is a plotting party up there. I just want to scream and say shhhhh give me a moment of silence here..

Don’t get me wrong. I love the fact that there are so many ideas coming to me and so many fresh stories but sometimes my muse just goes nuts.

As I said it can be moody and at times it will just hit me with writer’s block and I’m stuck with it until it goes away.

I wish I wrote faster like some authors I know. I don’t and I know it will be some time before I get all these done.

For now I just have to find a way to control this muse…

Do you have times like this when you are bombarded with ideas and can’t keep up with them?

Time Management…Can I Clone Myself?

Photo purchased from/Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos
Photo purchased from/Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos

With summer being over and kids going back to school many of us are back to trying to juggle our time. If not for family, than to write, read, or even have a moment to ourselves.

I won’t deny it, I’m a list person.  Even now as I type this I have a notebook next to me with a list of things I must do and I have my trusty highlighter next to it to mark off the stuff I’ve finished.

Can I live without lists? For sure, but I find them a lot more easier when it comes to spreading out things I have to do that day or that week.

I have noticed that as more projects come my way I sometimes struggle with trying to get everything done. It feels like there are not enough hours in the day. Not enough days in the week.

It is not easy to manage time when you are trying to balance life, family and a career. As authors we are not only writing the books but we are responsible for everything that comes along with our career. We have to find some kind of balance between responsibility, life and career.

At times it can be a bit overwhelming and we feel like no matter how much work we do we have barely made a dent in the pile that grows larger and larger.

I have come to the conclusion that there will never be enough time to do everything that we want to do so the only thing we can do is take it one day at a time. We also have to learn not to take on so much and make the pile grow so high where it is ready to tumble over. I know myself that sometimes I have a hard time saying no and take on way too many things at once.

Unless we discover a way to clone ourselves we have to try to do our best when it comes to time management.

I will continue to work away with my list and try to plan and work my time around so that I can get the most out of the hours I do have.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed with your work? Do you make lists to try to manage your time?

Where The Road Leads Me

Copyright (c) 123RF Stock PhotosPhotos purchased from/Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos

Originally I called this post Where The Toad Leads Me…but people were confused..

Where the toad leads me…lol….that has to do with a GPS pic I saw and the photo had a frog instead of a car. Someone must have made it as a joke but it would be fun if the GPS had more icon options instead of the boring car…Something to liven up the GPS…

I’ve never been on a road trip. No, I’m not kidding..Ok maybe I should say I’ve never been the one to drive and go on a road trip. I remember as a kid going on road trips but have never actually taken one myself. This summer I decided to go on one with a friend of mine. We’ve both been working really hard and not doing much travel so this was the perfect time to get away.

We decided that were going to stay in the province and just take a trip a few hours away from us to a beautiful provincial park. We are actually leaving in a few days to take our first road trip together.

I suck when it comes to directions. I’m more of a visual driver and I tend to like to know where I am going, but this time we are going blind..Well I will have my trusty GPS handy so if we get lost we can find our place. See this spot we are going to doesn’t have an addy. You get coordinates that you have to follow.

I’m actually looking forward to this time away and getting to spend a few days with my friend. We promised we will not be working and just enjoy the time. Do some sightseeing and relax.

I will say that I dream of one day getting in the car and driving across Canada. From one end to the next. I always joke that one day I will just get into the car and drive where the road takes me. Will I ever do it? Not sure, but it would be fun to do.

Being an author you tend to get lost in the craziness of work and forget to take time for yourself. Time flies away and the days run like there is no tomorrow. Some days I don’t even know what day of the week it is because I’m so swamped with work.

This little trip away will be nice and I’m really looking forward to it.

Have you guys ever taken a road trip? Where have you gone?

Have you ever just gotten in the car and drove wherever?

We Meet Again…

Photobucket

Purchased/Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos

Hello all you smutty readers out there. Yes you..Oh you know you can’t get enough of our place here. So sexy that you decided to join me today.

So as some of you know I’ve had a few books go off the market and that has made me go back and rework these stories. We all grow and change with our style of writing and just the craft in general.

Going back to these books I learned how much I had grown as an author. I thought, this is a new chance to give my stories a breath of fresh air and new life.

I got to reintroduce myself with old characters and see them in a new light. To be honest they even surprised me this time around. They took a stronger hold of their story and started to lead me in a different direction. I always knew they were both powerful and kinky among other things but this just went all extra naughty..

I will say I’m enjoying meeting these characters all over again and discovering their wild and sexy side. They are taking their own adventure this time around and more sure of where they want to go. Each character has discovered a lot about themselves and their desires for love.

This is new to me to go back to an old book and rework it and re-edit. Give a new light into an old story. I will say no matter the stress and worries of doing this because of being unsure where this will lead me I will say I love the experience. It has taught me a lot.

I’m halfway through this reworking and so far I’m thrilled with the story and how much it has grown. I can’t wait to share it with you.

So tell me, have you ever had to take back your books from a publisher and gotten a second chance to give new life into an old story? How did it feel to return to something you wrote a while ago? did you like the chance or did it make you cringe?

stay naughty,

Savannah

WTF Question of the Day #3

“Free image courtesy of FreeDigitalPhotos.net”

Hello Fellow Smut Lovers, my name is Benjamin T. Russell – Author & Provocateur and I’m your host today at 69 Shades of Smut. I want to thank you for stopping by and visiting our group Blog. I have what I hope is an interesting proposition for you today.  I’ve got another WTF question I believe will have you scratching your head and seconding guessing your answer. In addition, the WTF-Genie and a “special guest” drop by to give me some inspiration.

By the way, if you haven’t already done so, PLEASE LIKE me on Facebook by clicking on the embedded link in my name.

All-righty then, let’s rock and roll.  About two weeks ago, right after I posted my last WTF Question #2(Click on the embedded link to read it), I found myself undecided as to how I would answer my own WTF question.  Well, that’s not entirely true, I know what I want, what my choice would be, but I couldn’t stop myself from asking why can’t I have it all.

I popped the cork on a bottle of Moscato and poured my first glass of the evening. My iPod was playing my favorite playlist, Benji’s Favorites and I was in a very reflective mood.  Music can transport you into past memories or stir visions of a future still to come. Prince, Boyz II Men, Taylor Swift and the Black Eyed Peas, to name a few, entertained me.  Benji’s Favorites is an extensive playlist and I was on my second glass of wine when one of my ALL time favorite songs began to play.

A song by the late, great Phyllis Hyman – Loving You, Losing You.  ‘Loving you, is it worth the pain of losing you? Losing you, is it worth pain of loving you?’  The words to that song are so soulful, even more so – because Ms. Hyman committed suicide not too long after its release. According to the news reports, she was heartbroken and tired of being lonely – even when she wasn’t alone.  I hope that everyone understands the difference.

I stared off into space, lost in the quagmire of my own mind, as the words to that song careened around in my head. I hit the continuous play button and sang along with Ms Hyman as I pondered my own WTF question.  Acceptance, Trust, Devotion or Sex.  If I could only have one, which one would I choose.  I’ve had varying degrees of three of the choices, but the fourth I’ve never experienced. On some levels, I’ve often questioned whether the fourth was even in the realm of possibility for someone like me.

‘Loving you, is it worth the pain of losing you? Losing you, is it worth pain of loving you?’

I don’t know when I drifted off to sleep, still sitting in my recliner. It wasn’t the first night I’d fallen asleep with my hand on my crotch.  Something warm and wet slithered into my consciousness. I didn’t want to wake up. I was dancing with an Angel in the pale moonlight and it was glorious.  ‘Loving you, is it worth the pain of losing you? Losing you, is it worth pain of loving you?’

“Benji, wake up – we need to talk,” said a silken female voice in my ear.

My eyes snapped open, but I didn’t move a muscle or a say a word. This has to be a dream, but just in case.  It was pitch-dark in the room and I couldn’t see crap.

Something bit my nipple through my shirt and this time I spoke. “WTF, that feels good – can you do it again,” I said.

“Benji, stop fooling around, we need to talk.”  Shit – I recognized her voice.

I growled. “WTF-Genie, damn – you have got to stop sneaking up on me in the middle of the night. What the hell are you doing here and what do you want this time?”

A small lamp next to my chair came on.  It took a second for my eyes to adjust and then there she stood in all her mystical glory. The last time I saw her she was buck-ass naked. Tonight she wore a silver sheath of a dress that hugged all her generous curves.  Eddies of magic swirled around her, one moment she looked like Angelina, the next moment she looked like J-Lo and when I blinked – she looked like Halle Berry.

She smiled. “Benji, I can be whoever you want me to be, after all – this is your fantasy.”

“Grrrrghr, well if this is my fantasy, why do you have clothes on for this visit?”

“Considering the gravity of the situation, I thought it would best if I were clothed, so not to distract you. Benjamin, I’m worried about you,” she said in a voice muted with worry.

Welcome to the club, I’m worried about me too. “Listen WTF-Genie, I truly love mentally masturbating when you’re in the room, but there are better ways for you to coax a wet dream out of me. Why don’t you come back in the morning when I’m awake?”

A rustle of cloth and movement in the dark corner of the room caught my attention. Out of the shadows stepped a tall, willowy figure. As she got closer, a groan tickled the back of my throat at the sight of her sheer beauty.  OMG – she was freaking gorgeous. Her hips sang when she walked – a sensual tune of wanton sexuality. Waves of pheromones wafted around her and my cock stirred in my pants.  I closed my eyes to calm my breathing and when I opened them again, she had dropped to her knees directly in front of me. Her coal black eyes locked with mine.

I sat rooted in my chair. “Who – who are you?” I croaked.  Fuck, let’s try that again. I cleared my throat and spoke louder. “There is something familiar about you, but I can’t quite place it.”

The WTG-Genie kneeled on the floor beside me and took my hand. “Look closer Benji. Don’t you recognize her?”

My eyes hurt she was so damn pretty. “Stand up and turn around so I can see your ass and legs.”

She flowed to her feet like water and took two steps backwards. She did a pirouette and presented me with a scrumptious rear view of her womanly charms.  Her long auburn hair reached halfway down her back.  She wore an ultra-short skirt, seamed hose – the seam ran down the back of her legs and a pair of four inch cum-lick-me heels.  A kernel of memory began to grown in my mind, but when she popped open a red and black parasol and perched it jauntily on her shoulder – that sealed the deal.

I shook my head in disbelief and awe. “Charisma.  WTF – now I know I’m dreaming. Savannah Chase and I conjured you up for one of our flash fiction stories in the Six Degrees of Passion Anthology.  Ok, somebody needs to tell me what’s going on.”

The WTF-Genie squeezed my hand. “Benji-Baby, as you know, since you and Savannah created her, Charisma is a witch, a very powerful witch. I felt I needed her assistance to give me a magic boost, so we could help you with your WTF Question.  I know how it important it is for you to present your WTF posts to the 69 Shades of Smut Blog readers.”

A magic needle pricked my palm and I turned to see Charisma on her knees again, clasping my other hand.  She hadn’t spoken since she stepped out of the shadows. The look of hunger in her eyes sent an adrenaline surge through my veins.

I winked at her. “So, how is your vampire Dom Victor doing, have you gotten him out of that tomb yet?’

Her eyes bled from charcoal to blood red as the blood lust reared inside her and in a blink, her inner-monster took control.  I squeezed the WTF-Fuck Genie’s hand – hard.

“Benji, I’m here as a favor to Genie and I also like you. After all, I do owe you, since it was your fertile Muse who created me. However, don’t press your luck.”

I sighed. “Ok, I love you too.  Now, what is today’s WTF question?” The single light in the room went out. Oh-Oh.

In utter darkness, the WTF-Genie and Charisma spoke in unison, two melodious voices blended as one. “Benji, close your eyes and when you wake-up.  You will have your WTF Question and maybe your readers will help you find some answers.”

I closed my eyes and the last thing I heard was – ‘Loving you, is it worth the pain of losing you? Losing you, is it worth pain of loving you?’

Wow, well Ladies and Gents here is the WTF question of the day –

For the first time, we have eliminated the multiple-choice answers; today’s WTF question requires a simple Yes or No.

The WTF-Genie and Charisma told me I could have it all. I could have Acceptance, Trust, Devotion and fantastic Sex all rolled together in a nice neat package. They promised me a life of total bliss.  Happiness and rapture would fill each day.  My life would be so complete that I would jump in the air every morning, click my heels and shout my joy to the world.  Every aspect of my life would improve – personal, business and even my health. However, there was one catch. Yeah, of course there would be a catch, that’s why it’s called a WTF Question.

This life of total nirvana would only last for one year. At the end of those 365 days, it would all crash and burn.  It would be sudden and unexpected. I’d never see it coming, because before they bestowed the happiness on me, they’d wipe my memory of their existence. I’d be flying dumb, blind and in love. I’d be devastated by the loss and my spirit crushed.  The memories of my lost happiness would haunt me for the rest of my life.

Ah, but those memories wouldn’t just haunt me, they’d warm my heart and nourish my soul forever.  What would you do, what would be your answer – Yes or No – would you do it? Would you say Yes, to have something you’d probably never experience otherwise?  Yes or No‘Loving you, is it worth the pain of losing you? Losing you, is it worth pain of loving you?’

Charisma Will Cast A Spell On You

Photobucket
© Photographer: Radu Razvan Gheorghe | Purchased at Agency: Dreamstime.com

From the moment I walk into the cafe the aura of the place is electric and I know exactly why.

Charisma is here to meet me for drinks. The woman is witching and wherever she goes it changes the place into something magical. Something powerful and full of hunger. and I’m not surprised the crowd of men drooling over her as they stare in her direction on the patio where she sits waiting for me.

For a moment I stop in the doorway and watch as she brushes a loose strand of auburn hair from her face. She adjusts her sunglasses when a ray of sunshine hits her porcelain face and smiles. It fascinates me as the men continue to follow her every move. Her short frilly skirt rises giving her admirers a peak at her long luscious legs with each subtle move and her very presence is torturing the other male and female patrons.

SC: Charisma, so wonderful that you were able to meet me here for a drink.

C: Oh Mistress Savannah, you know I wouldn’t pass this up. Master is in slumber right now and I shall be going to see him later on.

SC: Ahh yes, how is Victor doing?

C: Impatient, the night approaches and he worries about me, if I will be able to handle the awakening.

SC: You’ll surely be able to handle it. You are strong and powerful. Look at your very presence has done to all the men around us.

C: That’s nothing. I’m sure I can handle it. If I can handle Victor, I’m able to do it all. I’ve been preparing myself with his guidance. I only have to patiently wait a few more days and then everything will be over with.

SC: Both of you will be able to relax.

C: I think Master will be more at ease after everything is said and done.

A smile graces her face.

SC: So what are we going to order?

C: I’m getting myself a Salem Witch. I want something with a magical kick, like me.

SC: Why doesn’t that shock me?

C: What?

I spend the rest of the afternoon with Charisma chatting about Victor and just what they’ve been up to since my last visit.

So now if you want to try to make yourself your very own Salem Witch here is the recipe

• 1 cup ice cubes
• 1/2 fluid ounce vodka
• 1/2 fluid ounce raspberry schnapps
• 1/2 fluid ounce melon liqueur
• 1 splash lime juice
• 1/4 cup sweet and sour mix
• 1 fluid ounce club soda
• 1 splash grenadine syrup
Mixing Directions
1. Fill a collins glass with ice, and pour in the 1/2 fluid ounce of vodka, raspberry schnapps, melon liqueur, and splash of lime juice. Then pour in the sour mix until the glass is 2/3 full and top off the glass with the soda water. Stir gently to mix, then add a splash of grenadine to serve.

Charisma is featured in my latest release Six Degrees Of Passion, a collection of smoking hot BDSM flashers.

Bartender’s Wet Dream..with Makayla Travers

Savannah sits at the bar as the delectable bartender watches her from the corner of his eye.

“What will it be pretty lady?”

A sinful smile spreads across her lips.

“I’ll have a Bartender’s Wet Dream.”

She watches him as he cocks an eyebrow and a devilish smile appears on his lips.

“I think you’ve been a wet dream to a few bartenders,” he replies.

“More than you will ever know,” she tells him and gently bites her lower lip.

The sound of clicking heels grabs her attention as they come closer and closer.

“Mistress Savannah, sorry I’m late,” Makayla says and drops her purse on the bar.

“No need to apologize, I was just having some fun with…”

“Jack, my name is Jack,” he introduces himself, and reaches out his hand.

Savannah wraps her fingers around his strong hold. He’s got powerful hands. She loves men who have a strong grip. They are known to be good lovers.

“Well hello there Jack, I’m Makayla,” she says and greets him with a light handshake.

“I was just going to make Savannah, or did I hear correctly, Mistress Savannah a Bartenders Wet Dream.”

“Savannah is fine.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever had one. How do you make it?” Makayla tells him.

“Then you will enjoy this one. You pour ½ 0z. Of Irish Cream, ½ oz of Kahlua, ½ oz of Grenadine, and top if off with whipped cream.”

Both ladies watch as his skillful hands work their magic at preparing their drink. Within moments he sets two shot glasses on the bar in front of them.

“Now the trick is to pick up the shot glass without using your hands. Just your mouth.”

“Now I think I know why they call this A Bartenders Wet Dream,” Makayla replies, and glances at Jack and smiles..

Makayla has the perfect boyfriend and a fulfilling job. A hot, sinful threesome would make things perfect for this prim and proper librarian. An upcoming anniversary provides the perfect opportunity if only she had the nerves to ask. Confessing could bring her ultimate pleasure or end her relationship forever. Is the risk really worth it?

Excerpt:

Makayla awoke to a hot, searing kiss. It came fast and full of hunger, setting every part of her being on fire. Her pulse raced frantically. Her heart beat out of control. She reciprocated the kiss and delved her tongue into his warm, inviting mouth as he sensually explored hers. The man’s lips abandoned her suddenly. It left her unsatisfied and wanting more. She sat up in disapproval. Why had he left? You didn’t get a woman all worked up and then vanish.
Looking around, she saw that she was sitting in a four-poster bed that was not her own. Each post was carved with statues of nude women. So exquisite, and intriguing. Her surroundings were ones she’d never seen before.
The walls were painted a dark, burgundy color. The furniture appeared classic and antique. Erotic paintings of nude women hung on the walls. The room was dim, but lit by beautiful candlelight.
“Josh, where did you go?” she called out.
Silence filled the room.
In the blink of an eye, she found herself standing next to the bed dressed in a silk, sheer white, floor-length nightgown.
Suddenly, the black-haired stranger reappeared in the room once again. He wore nothing but a black mask concealing his identity. It wasn’t Josh. But who was this mysterious stranger?
He moved like a tiger- so graceful- as he walked toward her. Each footstep quiet as it hit the floor. Every contour of his body beautifully sculpted. The color of his skin reminded her of sweet caramel.
She had an urge to run her tongue down his body. Their eyes met as arousal began to slowly take over her. His brown eyes locked on her. She couldn’t deny the fact that everything about him was inviting in every possible way. How could she lust after another man when Josh was her everything? This was just a dream. Something her mind concocted because of the events of last evening. She’d never betray Josh, no matter what.
She reached out and touched his chest the moment he stopped in front of her. His flesh was warm, so soft. His eyes seemed to gaze through hers, as if they were looking right into her soul.
