~ * ~

“Pardon the intrusion, my lords. This just arrived for Master Benedict.”

The butler passed him an envelope with the identical wax seal from the note his father received earlier. Only this time, the letter was decorated with intricate designs.

“Thank you, Horace.”

“What is it? Who is it from?” his father asked quizzically.

“I don’t know, Father. I’ll have a look at it later. I’m rather late for a few appointments now. I will check in on you later this afternoon. Do tell Mother I will be asking Estelle to join us for dinner tonight.”

His father groaned yet again. While his parents approved of his desire to marry, they simply did not care for his selection of a wife. The aristocratic snobs that they were, they had expected him to marry an equal, or a lady that came with an extremely large dowry. Estelle was Baron Humphrey’s daughter, and while her dowry wasn’t that of an earl’s or viscount’s daughter, her purse strings and entitlements didn’t bother him in the least.

From the moment he saw her for the first time at the market, he’d been smitten with the petite and exotic beauty. He’d lifted her from the muddy street, and as her deep dark eyes settled on his, she’d bewitched him. Mind, it took several weeks for him to dissuade another potential suitor, not that the lad stood a chance. Estelle was one catch he would never give up, and now he had to find the perfect home for them, but where? She lived in town with her father and widowed aunt in a modest townhouse during the season, and after that, they resided in a country home with a full set of staff and several tenants to oversee. All of which he could match with his inheritance; but for Estelle everything had to be perfect. She deserved nothing but the world, and if he could give it to her, he would.

“Horace,” Benedict called out, reaching for his hat. “See that my carriage is ready post haste. I have to go to town and begin looking at properties.”

“Yes, my lord. Right away.” The butler disappeared around the corner, leaving Benedict alone in the foyer.

He desperately wanted to open the envelope but refused to do it so close to home. He didn’t want his father to worry, nor did he want the servants to speculate on what was the matter. He’d open the blasted thing and read it in the privacy of his carriage.

Darkness shrouded the street, as if evil lurked for its first victim of the day. He stepped in, and gave his driver directions to Mayfair. A quick scout of the area would give him an idea of where there might be some opportunities. His future countess deserved the best. After scouring some neighborhoods, he’d collect his lovely bride and return home for dinner.

A few minutes into the drive, he pulled out the letter and opened it.

Lord Benedict St. John,

You are formally invited to Hawthorne Hall as a guest of Lord George Cuthbert. Celebrations are expected to last a week, and we hope that you will stay for the duration. Several festivities, including a masque, will be held in honor of George’s return from the continent. We hope you will attend, and look forward to being introduced to your lovely bride-to-be.

Regards,

Lady Cuthbert, Countess of Hawthorne.

Nothing made sense. Why would Lord Cuthbert send a letter blackmailing his father, and then invite him and Estelle to attend a party at Hawthorne Hall? It had to be a ruse of sorts, but then again, he could use this as an opportunity to dig more into the situation with his father. Yet, was it wise to introduce Estelle to this particular crowd of society, especially when there were other sinister things being plotted? If anything happened to Estelle while she was in his protection, he would never forgive himself. Nevertheless, if he told her about his plan and what was happening, she might be willing to aid him in freeing his father from the devil’s clutches.

Dating…

A lot of you probably know that I got divorced last year. Now I’m starting on this scary new venture called dating, something I haven’t done in a very long time. It’s scary and weird and fun and scary. I don’t know the rules anymore and I’m not really sure what I want out of life. Do I ever want to get married again? Probably not. But what the hell do I want?
And then there’s this whole romance writer aspect to deal with. I know that the perfect man, like the ones I write about in my books, doesn’t exist. I know. I make them up. I also know there has to be compromise and that I have to figure out what’s most important to me or I’ll end up single forever. (A lot of the time this doesn’t seem like such a bad option…)
Here are my lists and random thoughts and I would love to hear your feedback on the topic. Really, I would love to get some second and third and fourth opinions because I’m struggling to figure this damn thing out.
The must have qualities: honest, generous, caring, fun, smart, good looking (not necessarily cover model, but I wouldn’t date a man I didn’t find attractive)
Is that too much to ask for already? How about intellectual conversation and shared goals and hobbies? I like a guy that can make me laugh, not that that’s a difficult task because I never take life too seriously. What about toe curling sex. If you have that is it okay to overlook some of the other things?
What am I missing? What should be the order of importance, and what should I be willing to compromise on?

The Smutification of Disney World in Five Images…

Happy Hump Day, 69ers! Boy oh boy, it has been an insanely busy week for me. I’m on vacation at the “ aka Walt Disney World. And despite sickness, exhaustion, and crazy weather, I have had one of the best times of my life.

Since I love to share, I thought I would show off some of my snazzy pictures from the trip. Now, I must warn you these are not your typical photographs. No Castle or giant ball (oops, I mean Spaceship Earth). And definitely no Tree of Life or Mickey’s Wizard Hat. These images are, shall we say, for the adults…the ones with a sense of humor and a smutty mind.

So without further ado, here is my Smutty Disney Photo Album…

Photobucket

A dog bone big enough for 101 Dalmations? Not hardly. How about 101 inches of man bone for a lucky chick?

Photobucket

Dude, he could spear someone with that thing. And it wouldn’t ‘hurt so good.’

Photobucket

Are you kidding me? A restaurant called the Outer Rim? I would love to see that menu. Tossed salad  (Google Chris Rock, if I lost you on this one) and BBQ Pork Butt, anyone?

Photobucket

submissive: “But Master, I didn’t touch any of the other plastic toys! I-I-I swear it.”

Master Lego Man: (Wha-cha)

Photobucket

The Great Soap Debate: Gnome or Butt Plug? Butt Plug or Gnome? I’ll have to go with…butt plug.

Well, there you have it. I smuttified Walt Disney World in only five images. Just think of the damage I could do with just a few more days…and a couple more images. Mwahaha!

XOXOXO,

-Mia

A Real Inspiration

Photobucket

Purchased from/Copyright 123rf.com

I’ve always been a very visual person when it comes to my writing. I get inspired by watching people, movies, music videos and everything in between. My latest project has really given me a huge chance to be very inspired especially since the hero of the series is inspired by a real guy, a fighter.

I’ve been fortunate enough to spend time in different training facilities watching him turn his body and skills into the ultimate ass kicking machine. Even in the short period of time I’ve gotten to see all the hard work and dedication that goes into it all.

Each time I spend time observing and learning I take notes and end up getting so inspired with scenes and things for the book. It is my own personal muse tap. As long as I am around the setting of my story the ideas flow like crazy.

I’ve never done anything like this. Having to base a story on an actual person is so different from writing a fictional hero. You have to observe and really soak in the personality of your subject. You have to capture them on the page and make sure you get it right.

From day one I’ve been excited to take on this new project and do something different, even something out of my comfort zone. Why out of my comfort zone? Well, I’m use to working alone and creating stories that are from my imagination. This time that also applies but a real person is in the mix.

The experience so far has been out of this world and I can’t wait to tell you all more about it. You get to witness truly spectacular moments of greatness. I truly know that this is just the start of something big.

My question to all of you is, have you ever used a real person as an inspiration for a book? How did you find trying to capture him or her in your story? As a reader, do you mind if characters are inspired by actual people?

Savannah

Time Management…Can I Clone Myself?

Photo purchased from/Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos
Photo purchased from/Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos

With summer being over and kids going back to school many of us are back to trying to juggle our time. If not for family, than to write, read, or even have a moment to ourselves.

I won’t deny it, I’m a list person.  Even now as I type this I have a notebook next to me with a list of things I must do and I have my trusty highlighter next to it to mark off the stuff I’ve finished.

Can I live without lists? For sure, but I find them a lot more easier when it comes to spreading out things I have to do that day or that week.

I have noticed that as more projects come my way I sometimes struggle with trying to get everything done. It feels like there are not enough hours in the day. Not enough days in the week.

It is not easy to manage time when you are trying to balance life, family and a career. As authors we are not only writing the books but we are responsible for everything that comes along with our career. We have to find some kind of balance between responsibility, life and career.

At times it can be a bit overwhelming and we feel like no matter how much work we do we have barely made a dent in the pile that grows larger and larger.

I have come to the conclusion that there will never be enough time to do everything that we want to do so the only thing we can do is take it one day at a time. We also have to learn not to take on so much and make the pile grow so high where it is ready to tumble over. I know myself that sometimes I have a hard time saying no and take on way too many things at once.

Unless we discover a way to clone ourselves we have to try to do our best when it comes to time management.

I will continue to work away with my list and try to plan and work my time around so that I can get the most out of the hours I do have.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed with your work? Do you make lists to try to manage your time?

stay naughty,
Savannah

As always come on over and join me on Facebook and my Official Site. I’ve got contests and events going on all the time. Keep up with my books and flashers. All the fun and naughty things in my world.
