Dirty Boxers and Musical Inspiration

You’ll probably be relieved to note that this post isn’t about dirty underwear. Although I can totally see how that might be confusing given the title up there. Nope, today it’s all about sharing a little of what inspired me for the current book I’m working on, Triple Knockout. For those familiar with The Naughty List and Checking It Twice, this is the 3rd book set in that world. Unlike those two, this one isn’t a Christmas book. But it does feature a wicked hot menage featuring two VERY sexy and dirty boxers who enjoy playing with ropes in and out of the ring. ūüėČ This book will be coming out the first part of next year from Samhain Publishing, but in the meantime, here’s an insider peek at my naughty inspiration:

Finding the right music to set the stage for my dirty boxers was a pivotal part of the inspiration process. Here are just a couple of songs that ended up in the book soundtrack:

Shake that A$$!

I have a secret passion for dirty booty-shakin’ music. I love the music that my parents and their parents would¬†probably hate, and I adore the music that would make my kids shudder to see me dancing to it. You know which music I mean. The stuff like:

Dirty          S&M         Low

There is nothing like the environment of the club dance floor.¬†Lights flashing,¬†the bass thumping in your chest, and sweaty bodies grinding against each other. It’s an experience I miss now that I have three little ones at home. Clubbin’ is not exactly on the weekend agenda anymore.

But, my favorite thing in the world to do when I‚Äôm all alone at home, is dance to this kind of ass shaking beat. I think that EVERYONE should have a personal dance party every now and then.¬† Whether or not you like Hip Hop, Country, Swing, or Square Dancing. It’s a great exercise and it releases tons of endorphins that mimic the same ones released during sex.

For me, the bumping beat reminds me of an erotic romance story. The way the music ebbs and flows encouraging sensual movement inspires me to write passionate strong women who know what they want and reach for it with both hands. I find myself using a lot of music in my stories, and I would love to hear your favorite songs!

I‚Äôm sharing my personal list of booty shakin¬†favs. They range from hip hop to R&B to Country, so there is something for everyone!¬† Once you‚Äôve listened to them, drop to the bottom of the post and share your favorite ‚ÄúShake that A$%‚ÄĚ music!¬† SHOW ME WHATCHA WORKING WITH!

Hips Don’t Lie¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Pony¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Shake it for Me¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Smack That

A Real Inspiration

I’ve always been a very visual person when it comes to my writing. I get inspired by watching people, movies, music videos and everything in between. My latest project has really given me a huge chance to be very inspired especially since the hero of the series is inspired by a real guy, a fighter.

I’ve been fortunate enough to spend time in different training facilities watching him turn his body and skills into the ultimate ass kicking machine. Even in the short period of time I’ve gotten to see all the hard work and dedication that goes into it all.

Each time I spend time observing and learning I take notes and end up getting so inspired with scenes and things for the book. It is my own personal muse tap. As long as I am around the setting of my story the ideas flow like crazy.

I’ve never done anything like this. Having to base a story on an actual person is so different from writing a fictional hero. You have to observe and really soak in the personality of your subject. You have to capture them on the page and make sure you get it right.

From day one I’ve been excited to take on this new project and do something different, even something out of my comfort zone. Why out of my comfort zone? Well, I’m use to working alone and creating stories that are from my imagination. This time that also applies but a real person is in the mix.

The experience so far has been out of this world and I can’t wait to tell you all more about it. You get to witness truly spectacular moments of greatness. I truly know that this is just the start of something big.

My question to all of you is, have you ever used a real person as an inspiration for a book? How did you find trying to capture him or her in your story? As a reader, do you mind if characters are inspired by actual people?

stay naughty,
Savannah
