Still Time for a Summer Lover – Anna Lund

Autumn is fast approaching. Summer always seems to fly by in a flurry of activities. Where I live in western NY summer is fleeting and we want to grab as much of the warm weather as possible. My book Summer Lover takes place in an area like this, where summers by the lake are magical and when fall comes, reality rears its lonely head. At least for our heroine, Hayley. Until her summer lover comes back again.

Excerpt:

This weekend at the lake was going to be a royal waste of time.

Ethan Barrington had driven straight through from Philadelphia, anxious to get this exile over and done with. If anyone other than the Chairman of the Board, aka his grandmother, had insisted he take time off he would have bitten off their head. He had too much work to do to be stuck here on a tiny lake no one had ever heard of in upstate New York.

He stepped into the great room of the two story cottage and was surprised not to be bombarded with the pink and purple paisley his grandmother had loved for as long as he could remember. She hadn’t mentioned she’d redecorated the place, but then, she could have done it any time in the past five years.

What the hell was he doing here? He had contracts to review and portfolios to appraise. They’d be bumping up against hard deadlines soon. He’d replied to at least a dozen urgent messages on the drive up, thankful that these new cars did everything but drive themselves. It was exciting to be expanding all their showrooms and increasing services, but it meant even more work for him. He didn’t have time for this.

Still clutching the handle of his laptop case, he looked out the bank of floor to ceiling windows that faced Barden Lake. The setting sun threw ripples of red and gold across the water. He loosened his tie, unbuttoned his top button, and without thinking, crossed the room and stepped through the French doors. The sky was on fire. He’d forgotten how beautiful the sunsets were here.

This secluded cove was unique, at least for Barden Lake. Dozens of cottages ringed the lakeshore, but except for the ones directly across the wide lake, only this cottage and the one next door were visible from here.

Our own little private cove. A musical voice he hadn’t heard in years whispered in his ear with the memory.

He was so engrossed in the setting sun, it was a moment before he noticed the movement off to the side in the water. With the sun low and behind her, all he could make out was a woman’s silhouette rising from the lake.

The water shimmered around her and each step revealed more of her breathtaking body. Water cascaded over her shoulders and down her chest. Her full breasts bounced with each step and he sucked in his breath when he caught a glimpse of her nipples. Her waist dipped in above nicely rounded hips, leading to long, trim legs. His eyes zeroed in on the wet curls at the juncture of her thighs and all his blood shot south.

Her body glistened as the drops of water on her skin picked up the remaining rays of the sun. He could tell the exact moment she noticed him standing there, staring at her like a voyeur. She stumbled a little as she stepped out of the lake onto the grassy shore, but she didn’t screech or call out to him or dive for cover behind the lone maple tree that marked the boundary between the two properties. Instead, she lifted her chin and sauntered slowly over to the large towel lying at the base of the tree.

He barely caught a glimpse of her face, but a memory of soft red hair with gold highlights, sparkling green eyes and a wide, sassy smile slapped into his brain. Could it be…?

His heart raced. Of course, it was. It couldn’t be anyone else. Hadn’t some part of him hoped he’d still find her here?

Ethan’s mouth watered as she slowly bent down to pick up the towel. Did she purposely turn so her tempting ass faced him? Was she teasing him? Or mooning him? Or begging for the slap of his hand? Whichever, he was now hard and hurting as he continued to watch her. There was no way in hell he could turn away now.

She didn’t bother drying herself off as she straightened and wrapped the large beach towel around her body. A ridiculous sigh of disappointment escaped his lips when she was covered. Her long wet hair flowed down her back like a waterfall and he wanted to run his fingers through it.

Then she turned to face him and the memories washed over him like that waterfall. Five years later, he still remembered her perfectly. Remembered every single sensation. Every cry of passion and need. Every touch and lick, every suck and slap of flesh against flesh.

You can still enjoy a sexy, emotional Summer Lover before the weather turns chilly.

Yay for Air Conditioning by Anna Lund

The unusual bout of hot weather we’ve been having lately has been keeping me indoors almost as much as the normally long, cold winters do. Curling up with a good book in the air conditioning this summer has been just as enjoyable as all those winters reading by the fire.

If you’re looking for a summer romance that’s hot enough you’ll be doubly glad of that air conditioner, check out Summer Lover.

It’s been getting some great customer reviews:

Summer Romance by Anna Lund

Ahhh, summer romance. First loves. Young love. I always think of Sandy and Danny singing Summer Lovin’ in Grease. Or Johnny and Baby doing that lift in Dirty Dancing.

It was the kind of love you wrote about in your diary but more often than not, your life and his take different paths and you never see each other again. Over the years, you think about that bittersweet time occasionally and wonder about him. That’s what happened to Hayley in my newest release, Summer Lover. Ethan has been gone for five years and she’s learned to live without him.

Then he comes back.

Summer Lover

But Ethan’s also moved on and his life is full of responsibilities now. He’s glad to see Hayley again – but he’s only here for the weekend.

Excerpt:

He grasped her soft shoulders and for one crazy moment he wanted to pull her into his arms and take up where they’d left off all those years ago. Wanted to taste her tempting lips and lick the fat water droplets that still clung to her smooth skin. Wanted to rub his palm over the ass she’d mooned him with. And more than almost anything he wanted to grab the edge of the towel where it was tucked between her breasts and strip it from her body.

But Ethan let go of her and stepped back, away from her soft skin, away from the ever widening puddle of water. Just because they’d had a thing going for a few summers when they were younger didn’t mean they should pick up where they’d left off.

Although at the moment, after her soft breath had caressed his face and her hands had brushed against his body, he couldn’t come up with a single reason why not.

He wasn’t staying at Barden Lake long enough to pick up anything. That was reason enough.

But of course, they can’t resist picking up where they left off:

He reached for his shorts to grab a condom out of the pocket. The fact that he’d slipped one in there this morning was proof that he’d known, or at least hoped, they’d end up like this. When his hand touched nothing but decking, he reluctantly stopped suckling her and looked around for the shorts.

“Damn.”

Hayley opened her eyes. “What?”

“Can you reach my shorts? Somehow they ended up behind you.”

She twisted around to look for them. “Sure.” She evidently didn’t want to move from the point of delicious friction either, for she only took one hand off his shoulder and stretched behind her to reach his shorts, never stopping the pulsing of her hips as she rocked against him. She snagged them with her fingers and dangled the khaki shorts in front of him.

She cocked her head. “You need these right now?”

He raised a brow. “I need what’s in the pocket.”

“Oh. Okay. I’ll get it.” It only took her a moment to find it and rip it open. “Allow me to take care of this for you.”

His cock jumped at her words. She slid back only far enough to let his erection spring free from beneath her. “Ooh, he looks eager.” She glanced up at Ethan, mischief in her eyes.

She was such a refreshing change from the serious women he’d dated in the city. He’d forgotten how much fun Hayley was. How she made him laugh when they were together. How his heart beat faster and all his senses seemed to go into overdrive just being around her.

She leaned over and placed a sloppy kiss on the head of his penis before she started to slowly roll the condom over his sensitive flesh. “Nice boy,” she crooned as she stroked it over his erection a fraction of an inch at a time. It was sweet torture. He wanted to scream at her to hurry or he’d never make it into her creamy heat, but she was having such a good time playing with him that he couldn’t help but smile.

Her fingers danced along the length of him as he felt the need swirling inside him. The pressure built with each teasing touch. Ethan closed his eyes and tried to steady his breathing until she finally finished covering him.

He let out his breath with a shaky groan and grasped her by the waist. Without a word, he lifted her up and then lowered her onto his waiting shaft. It was heaven. Finally, she was surrounding him. Finally, he was buried inside her again.

Some might say that reality never matched up to a man’s dreams, but the reality of being sheathed in Hayley’s sweet body was sweeter than any dream he might have had over the past few years. Sweeter than any of his memories.

If you’re in the mood for a little summer reading, check out Summer Lover. Reviews call it hot and fun and emotional.

So did you have any summer lovers? Is there someone you look back on with fondness? Did you ever see him again?
