Cowboys of Nirvana

Cowboy radar–Rhonda Lee Carver

Have you ever been in a public place, see a handsome man and think to yourself…”wow, he’d make a great cover model.” That happens to me a lot and I sadly keep walking when all I want to do is stop, ask for his name and number. No, not for the reason you’re thinking. I want him to appear on the cover of one of my books. The other day, my wee one and I were walking in the park and I spotted the perfect ‘model’. Tall, built spectacular (I like my men more on the natural side, although I respect how much work it takes for buff models to get toned with no body fat), and strong–he was running up and down a big hill, over and over, sweating, slick…oh my. My radar triggered, the desire to ask him if he’d consider modeling was rolling through my brain, and he was right there…

There are several factors to consider here. One, how corny is it to walk up to a man and ask if he’d model for you? Reminds me of one of those Lifetime creepy movies where photographers approach attractive women and lure them back to a private spot for sinister acts. With that in mind, I’m 5’2, around 110. He was a good 6’2, weighing at least 200. Cross the perverted and sinister act off. Two, it takes an outgoing, brave soul to approach anyone and ask them such a question. I look around for a wife, girlfriend, lover, partner…anyone who’d think I was flirting. No one in sight. You’d never believe how many women/men refuse to let their partner model for a romance novel.

Okay, so I’ve talked myself into asking the guy. After all, he could say yes, or no. It’s a toss up.

I tell my wee one what I’m going to do and she freaks out. Suddenly I’ve moved from the cool mom box to the embarrassing mom box. What?!? Her face turns three shades of innocent red and she takes off at a run. And here’s the thing…the understanding that I have with my kids is that I’m their mom. Being embarrassed by me is part of life. I can’t help that anymore than I can control the weather. Just as they can’t help that they bug the shit out of me at times. But we still love each other. Amazingly so.

Out of respect for my kid, I walk on–well, actually run because she is about a half mile ahead of me at this point. It’s unbelievable how fast a kid can move with the right motivation. Dang! I just know he would have said yes!

Let’s talk hot cowboy, shall we?

Excerpt:

She hinged at the waist, wrapping her fingers around his wide girth and bending over him. She couldn’t wait to get her mouth on him and, just as she was about to suckle him between her lips, a knock came at the door.

Dade stiffened and she narrowed her eyes. “Go away,” she muttered.

Another heavy pounding came and the vase sitting on the table shook.

Felicia sat up, trepidation racing down her spine. She looked at Dade in curiosity, mouthing, “Who is it?”

He shrugged. “I’ll look.”

With disappointment, she unclutched his cock and watched him cross to the window. He looked as good going as he did coming. His ass was tight and squeezable.

“Oh fuck!” he whispered.

Her breath caught. “What?”

A pale, pasty color took the place of Dade’s normal olive complexion. “Chase is out there.”

“Oh shit!” She bounced off the bed and pulled the shirt around to cover her nudity. “What do we do?”

“We don’t answer the door like this.” He started for his jeans on the floor. She’d never seen a man slip into pants so quickly before. “You go to the bathroom and get dressed. I’ll take care of Chase.”

“Are you sure?” This could be World War Three getting ready to erupt.

He nodded. “Yes, I’m sure.”

“Open up. I know you’re in there!” Chase yelled through the door.

“You’ll need this.” She slipped his shirt from her shoulders and handed it over. She moved toward the bathroom carrying her clothes when Dade caught her by the elbow and pulled her back. She looked up at him, confused. “Yes?”

“One more.” He kissed her on the lips. It was brief, but it told her they were on each other’s side when it came to Chase.

Bald Cowboy–Rhonda Lee Carver

Hi y’all. One of my dear friends married her best friend, a cowboy from Texas, a few months back. They are so happy they make me happy. One evening we were sitting around with burgers and hot dogs on the grill and we got into a discussion whether he should shave his head bald or not. Yes, he is balding, but he doesn’t do the comb-over. He has been wrangling the idea to shave or not to shave for a few months now. So, I made him a bet. If I made a shot in the hoop he would shave. If I didn’t he wouldn’t shave. He agreed. Let me just say, I’m horrible at basketball. Whether it’s because I’m only 5’2, or just don’t have the skill, I suck. He was grinning ear to ear because he believed he had this. And guess what? The ball spun around the rim twice then went in. I won!

He shaved and two days later my friend told me, “Every where my hubby goes he’s being flirted with. He was even asked out while he was at the coffee shop. Women love baldies.” LOL.

So, what do you think? Should a man shave his head or not? Or does it matter if he’s a cowboy…?

Have you heard the news? Book 6 of Cowboys of Nirvana is up for pre-order.

Excerpt:

Well, so be it! She walked onto the dock, the wood planks creaking under her feet.

She wouldn’t let him deter her from enjoying herself. In fact, she’d show him!

Reaching for the hem of her shirt, she dragged the tank over her head and dropped it . Next came her shorts. Her nipples budded and she wanted to believe that it was caused by the breeze, but the moisture building between her legs couldn’t be ignored–couldn’t be stopped. There was something sensual about standing there, partially naked, with a handsome stranger, a cowboy, watching her. His hand came up and scraped his jaw, and the horse pranced from foot to foot. Did the mare sense his irritation…or tension?

Was Dade growing hard?

Her core pulsated and her skin warmed. She had only meant to prove a point, but instead she’d tapped into a fiery awareness inside of her body. Her nipples were now throbbing and pressing against the lace of her bra.

Not sure what had come over her, she had no choice but to follow through, and pretty much needed cooled off. Stepping to the edge of the dock she jumped in.

A second later she surfaced, squealing. “Holy fuck!” The water was frigid. Apparently, she hadn’t thought this idea through carefully enough. Swimming to the ladder, she climbed the rungs and raced to her clothes, quickly pulling them on. Scanning the field where Dade had been, she didn’t see him. Disappointment slithered through her. He was now gone. But in time she’d see him again.

Three more days and The Lawman’s Promise (Book 2, Buttermilk Valley) is releasing!

Excerpt:

“MOVE ONE MUSCLE and I’ll splatter your baby maker all over that fake Picasso painting hanging on the wall behind your head.”

Blake McKenzie held the shotgun steady on the naked man sprawled out on the messy bed. It was so quiet in the motel room, a pin hitting the floor would have been heard.  Empty beer bottles were scattered around the small area and the scent of smoke was strong in the air, making Blake want to gag.

The girl shifted on the bed, pink colored her cheeks as she pulled her shirt closed in order to hide her bare chest. “Blake, what are you doing here?”

“You’re a minor and your mother has been worried sick about you.” Blake didn’t take her gaze off the boy who was now sweating profusely and huddled up close to the headboard as if it was his lifeline. “So I’m asking you the same question.”

“Hey, she is here because she wants to be,” the man, Jonathon, finally muttered.

“Do the math, Einstein,” Blake said. “Twenty minus sixteen equals illegal. Not only are you lacking in brains by giving a juvenile alcohol, but messing with an underage child has serious consequences. You’re looking at some time behind bars.”

Monica shifted, making herself the wall between the shotgun and her boyfriend. “I love him. I’m going to marry him,” she wailed.

“Honey, you don’t want to marry this boy. I promise you.” Blake lowered her gun a mere inch so she could look at her best friend’s daughter. “Isn’t it time you told her the truth, Jonathon?” He sat there, his bottom lip quivering and tears rolling down his cheeks. “Let me do the honors since it seems the cat’s got your tongue. Monica, he has another girlfriend and she’s pregnant by him.”

Cover reveal–Rhonda Lee Carver

Hi, y’all. Rhonda Lee Carver here. Wow…May is almost over and I’m like a whirlwind getting caught up. It has been a crazy time here at my homestead. I feel as though I’m one step behind and a brain cell short. My  oldest daughter has serious food allergies and she had an anaphylaxis reaction. She has been under the care of a specialist for years, but dang, it’s very difficult to prevent allergies. In fact, we don’t have a clue what caused this one, which makes it scarier. Although my girl is safe and recovering, I was out of mind with worry. So, my characters and their lives were put on hold for a while.

Now, onto what you stopped by here for…sexy men and their sassy heroines. First, I have book 2 of Buttermilk Valley releasing in June. This series involves second chances, a sliver of suspense, hot Georgian nights, and finding the heart. I’ll be starting book 3 soon and you won’t want to miss how the suspense continues.

And…I’m finishing up the last details for book 6 of the Cowboys of Nirvana series, The Discreet Cowboy. Watch for it releasing soon.

Last but not least, I’m starting a new contemporary western series, Soot, Saddle, & Second Chances. This series will be so hot you’ll need sunglasses to read it 🙂

Stay tuned for more news and updates. It’s a good idea to subscribe to my newsletter where I’ll give away gifts, surprises and keep you updated. Simply click on the link below and fill out the easy form.

Here’s the blurb for The Lawman’s Promise.

Blurb:

Buttermilk Valley has a new sheriff…but he’ll turn Renegade before it’s all done.

Duff Tyler left Buttermilk Valley to follow his heart and join the military. Now he’s back fighting small town crime and corruption, and something far more dangerous–the love he thought he’d buried for his childhood sweetheart.

At the age of ten, Blake McKenzie married Duff behind the barn when he slipped a candy-machine-ring on her finger, but her dedication ended the day he left her. All she has left is the farm that has been in her family for generations and she refuses to give it up to anyone, even if her life is in danger. With a shotgun and more guts than any one person should have, she stands her ground–literally.

Known for being rough-and-ready, Duff finds that his skills are lacking when it comes to the petite red-head who’d stolen his heart once upon a time and he never got it back. He has a strong desire to love her and a need to protect her, but he’ll do both even if it kills him.

Name Nirvana’s new cowboy! Rhonda Lee Carver

51m6B4iJj+L._SX318_BO1,204,203,200_

I’m writing book 2 of Cowboys of Nirvana, Ropin’ Trouble. In book 1, Cowboy Paradise, you met all of the characters, but now that Ben has left we have an opening at the Nirvana R&R. Actually, several openings, but one is a secret. You’ll have to read Ropin’ Trouble to find out the big news. I need your help in creating a character. He must be a cowboy…or at least turned cowboy. He must have a special flaw. And an awesome skill (besides in bed). Can you help? Here’s what I’ll need…

  1. A name for our new cowboy.
  2. Some interesting personality traits of this fellow.
  3. Feel free to post a pic of a sexy man who fits this character. I won’t complain.

And this is what you need to do…

  1. Post all of the information below.
  2. And check back for a winner. I’ll choose which one I like best! (I might have to tweak the character a bit to fit the story).

This is what you’ll get if your cowboy is chosen…

  1. Bragging rights.
  2. A $5 Amazon GC.

So, get to crackin’. I need my new cowboy by October 15th. Good luck and best wishes!
