Alpha & the Holiday–Rhonda Lee Carver

Hi y’all! Rhonda Lee Carver here!

I can’t believe that Thanksgiving has gone by and soon it will be Christmas. I’m almost finished with my shopping, thank goodness. I so dislike going into stores and finding no one with any holiday cheer. People scooting around, pushing their carts, and being rude just because they’ve had a bad day…month…or maybe year. Kindness doesn’t cost anything.

I’ll tell you a funny story.

I was in Sam’s Club a few days ago and there was an aisle display  with two comfy, soft, thick, lovable blankets. Oh, by the way, I love soft, cuddly blankets as much as I love shoes. There was a blue one (which I already have) and a red one. Standing a few feet away a couple were arguing over which color of blanket they should choose. He said, “The blue matches the bedroom”. She said, “But I love the red.” I was standing close, my eye on that red blanket. My fingers were aching to stroke the material like my new favorite pet. I waited. And waited. They still fuss. I was growing impatient. A friend of theirs happened by and said “hello” and without thinking of the consequences I snatched up that blanket like a thief in the night and took off like a bat out of hell. I jumped behind a stack of roasters and peek. The arguing couple were no longer arguing. They were looking around like, “What the hell just happened?” I moved along with my pretty blanket and felt justified.

Later, as I stood in the check out line, I saw out of the corner of my eye that couple was beside me and she was eyeing me like I had toilet paper sticking out of my pants. I told myself, “I didn’t do anything wrong.” Yet, I felt guilty. She was staring, not at me now, but at my red, comfy blanket. I wondered momentarily if this would end up like one of those crazy, chaotic videos where people are fighting over stuff they won’t use in the next year.

Then it became too much. I grabbed that blanket and placed it off to the side as if I’m no longer wanting to take it home and snuggle and watch a Hallmark movie. She snatched it up. And I continued on. I came home and ordered one online.

Now let’s talk books.

His Weekend Wife (The KNIGHT Brothers Book 2) is releasing 11/29. Have you pre-ordered your copy yet?

As a girl, Ash James wanted a knight in shining armor to carry her away and together they would live happily-ever-after.

And then she grew up and waiting tables at a greasy diner blemished her fairy tales.

Her idea of a perfect prince matured and she had an appetite for alpha: sexy, muscled and scintillating. Declan Knight was everything she wanted—everything she found mysterious. When he walked—no, strutted—into her life she was ready to throw uncertainty, and her apron, out the window.

Her knight put a ring on her finger and whisked her away to the ‘castle’ where she settled in nicely, until she soon realized every prince can turn into a toad. Before long she was back wearing a faded uniform, living on tips and scrimping to get by. And keeping her sister out of trouble. Sometimes deadly trouble.

Fate has a plan and her name is Angelina Knight. How will Declan’s late sister play the role of fairy godmother? How will Declan save Ash from someone who is out to harm her?

Will Ash see that sometimes a toad just needs a kiss…a touch…and endless nights of passion to turn him back into a prince?

The last thing she expected were glass slippers and a storybook romance…but the miracle of the holiday will surprise her.

Country singer, Storm Rich, finds himself in a snowstorm on a back road of the Tennessee hills. He’s late for a show and his manager is breathing down his neck. Just when he thinks things can’t get any worse, he swerves to miss a dog and hits the ditch. But an angel comes to his rescue…

Charlie Lindon has suffered heartache most of her life and this Christmas is no exception. After the loss of her daughter she’s never quite been able to pick up the pieces of her broken heart and move forward. However, fate has a gift for Charlie that won’t fit under the tree.

Stuck in the small town, far from home, on Christmas Day, Storm finds refuge, but he’s faced with helping an angel with a broken wing. He’s always been good at flashing his wide smile and dimples and ladies falling all over him, but Charlie isn’t the swooning type. Yet, looking into her eyes he sees more than a distant, shattered woman. He sees beauty, kindness and a fiery spirit.

If they make it until New Year’s Eve, a magical kiss might turn a Christmas fantasy into reality.

Previously published in the boxed set, Ring in a Cowboy. Added scenes make this holiday novella more delish and longer.

Futuristic Theory with #Neanderthal DNA by @AnitaPhilmar

Remember in Jurassic Park how scientist recreated dinosaurs for the DNA recovered from mosquitos.

Well, now that scientists have found Neanderthal DNA in humans what if they discover, that this is the missing link to psychic abilities?

Whether or not this is tTrue or not. I used this premise to build the premise for my new series The Ancient Warrior Prophecy.

A secret society of people have Neanderthal DNA. They know the power, which is being passed down through the generations. Their leaders and shamen have been passing down the knowledge of the tasks they need to perform for humanity. This prophecy requires strong men and women to step up and save us from the destruction of the world.

The Warrior in Me – yes, it appears to be nothing more than a simple murder mystery with strong romantic elements. But it also reveals the secret people who carry the burden of saving the world. How they work to protect the secret of Neanderthal in the human genome.

The Warrior in Me – Erotic Murder Mystery/ Romantic suspense

Blurb: Special Security Agent Sebastian Berlin is eager to track down his partner’s killer. Instead, he’s assigned the job of baby-sitting a scientist. His boss thinks she’s the key to an Ancient Warrior Prophecy. Science never interested Sebastian, but the know-it-all female standing at the end of his Alaskan dock could persuade him to do a little experimenting. That is, if he can keep his Neanderthal Warrior genes from taking control.

DNA specialist Lily Sinclair is in need of a vacation, or so her over-protective ex-husband tells her. Arriving in chilly Alaska instead of sunny Cancun, she’s tired and cranky and so not in the mood for her bodyguard’s he-man tactics. Still, there’s something about the sexy eye-candy that makes her want to lick him all over even as she’s demanding to go home.

Then Lily’s ex is poisoned, and Sebastian is certain the two murders are connected and she could be next. She knows he’s hiding something, but with the worldwide release of Neanderthal DNA project only days away, she has no choice but to trust him to protect her. But can she trust him with her heart?

“I hate to tell you, but we found Cain’s body last night. He took two slugs in the chest.”

Relief, followed quickly by shock, filled Sebastian. A numbing sense of disbelief overwhelmed him. “What the hell? I thought he was working on a simple security detail.”

“Did he discuss his assignment with you?”

Sebastian ran a hand through his hair and scrambled to recall his last conversation with his best friend. Cain had called a week ago with a request for information on the people he’d been assigned to protect in California. His voice had reflected a bored almost disgusted tone. At the time, Sebastian had held his tongue and didn’t comment, but later he questioned the anomaly. His friend loved life and never became discouraged even when the odds were against him.

Frowning, Sebastian rubbed a hand over his neck, stroking the hairs that suddenly stood on alert. His initial disbelief faded. A gaping hole widened before him and stretched into an endless sea of despair. What the hell would he do without his best friend, his confidant?

Win smut and smile! Rhonda Lee Carver

Wow! Can you believe Thanksgiving is almost here? Turkey, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie are great, but this year my family and I will be spending part of the holiday delivering bagged lunches to the homeless. This has been a plan in the works for a while, but especially after I had a secondary character in His Weekend Wife (#2, The KNIGHT Brothers) who is homeless and I see how devastating this is. It is certainly a problem in every every state. In every city. In every neighborhood. The problem can be easily overlooked as other more prominent issues seem to take shape around us. Our nation certainly has been full of these issues lately. But this year, I plan to pull in my sail and concentrate on how I can help my community.

However, for now, I want to giveaway a cowboy! Did you all know that I have a handful of cowboys in audio?

Check them out here: Audio Books

I’d like to offer TWO winners an audio of mine of choice. You choose, I send, and you get the enjoyment of reading! Here’s what you need to do to enter…Leave a post in the comments letting me know which cowboy you’d like (make sure he’s in audio by clicking the link) along with your email. Breakdown: I need a title of the audio and email. I need both things to elect a winner on Tuesday!

Have you seen the cover of His Weekend Wife?

“Your smell, it should be bottled and sold for millions.” A look of pure gratification covered his face and she practically came off the bed. She’d never wanted oral pleasure more in her life.

He kissed her hip, licked the skin of her inner thigh, kissing his way down her leg, her ankle until he reached her foot. She watched, her breath stilling in her lungs as he slowly unstrapped her heel. His gaze held onto hers in a mesmerizing trance, and then he pulled off the shoe, dropping it. He lifted her foot and brushed the tips of his fingers down the instep and involuntarily she lurched. He held her tight and she wasn’t going anywhere. He then kissed her arch followed by a teasing lick. She whimpered and quivered under him. He gently nibbled, sucked, then nibbled more. Fuck! She felt the feeling all the way up into her core. She grabbed the sheets and clutched the material as his soft chuckle echoed off the walls.

He dropped her foot. Thank God.

His sweet, blissful torture continued with the other foot. After the heel was gone, he licked, suckled and nibbled until her toes curled.

“I love your body. Love your scent, your taste. You’re an aphrodisiac to a man’s soul, bella.”

His words were so erotic, spinning a tale of romance inside of her heart.

“If no man has pleasured you, then you’ve done it for yourself. Right?”

Her cheeks warmed. She couldn’t deny him the truth. “Yes.”

“What do you fantasize about when you touch yourself?” His husky words tranquilized her.

Resisting him was not an option. “A man’s touch. Strong arms holding me. You holding me.”

He inhaled sharply. “I want to see you touch yourself, like you were the night in the tub.”

When I should be writing, Alice Gaines

How I spend my time when I should be writing:

On Saturday, I spent the entire day driving from Oakland to outside Sacramento for a wine party.  My friend, Roger Smith, who plays keyboards for Tower of Power, has his own winery, Bump City Winery.  I went up for his wine party.  Here’s Roger’s pick-up band playing at the party.  wineparty Roger is standing at the keyboard on the right.  On saxophone was Tower of Power’s lead sax player, Tom Politzer.  Note the young woman on bass in the back.  She really tore it up!

So, I got hopelessly lost on the way home, wandering around on levee roads on the Sacramento Delta.  When I finally called On Star, they gave me a roundabout path home that included two ferries across Delta water ways.  At least, I got home with this:

wineIf you know anything about the Bay Area, you’ll recognize the picture on the label as the San Francisco skyline.  Everybody knows! that Bump City is Oakland, not the city across the bay.  I tease Roger about this at every opportunity.

So, how did I spend Sunday when I should have been writing?  Making pasta sauce.  Here’s my favorite recipe.  I use my own homegrown tomatoes that I’ve peeled, seeded, and frozen.  I also use my own bell pepper and basil.  And my own chicken broth.  You can use a couple of cans of whole tomatoes.  Just crush the tomatoes with your fingers.  You can use water instead of chicken broth, but the broth makes the sauce richer.

In a food processor, make a pestata of lots of peeled garlic cloves, some sprigs of basil, about three pieces of bacon (or pancetta or guancale, if you have those), about half a large onion, and a small bell pepper.  Grind it all up really well.

Heat a bunch of good olive oil in a large pan.  When hot, add the pestata.  Cook for a while.  Make a hot spot in the middle of the pan, and add a few tablespoons of tomato sauce.  Add some red pepper flakes and cook pretty well.  Add the tomatoes and cook down.  Add some chicken broth and cook for a few hours, adding more broth as required.  When it’s sauce the way you like it, you can freeze it in serving batches.  In the middle of winter, this sauce puts summer in my mouth.

peppersBy the way, my Regency romance, Captain and Countess, is on sale at Amazon for 99 cents.  For a limited time only.
