Dakota Childs stood at the cemetery in the rain on an unbelievably cold Texas afternoon. She’d quit her job and used up most of her cash to get here to say farewell to her beloved aunt. The last thing she needed or wanted was anyone’s pity, but when the tall, sexy stranger in worn hat and boots pulled out the umbrella, and offered her a place to stay, she couldn’t think of one good reason not to accept. When he steered his pale blue eyes her way, she was mesmerized…and instantly rethinks her plans of leaving the small town.
Cash Bailey loved his daughter, but being a single father could be trying and downright confusing. He had no clue how young girls dressed, or how to braid hair or the importance of picking out matching shoes. Physically, he missed having someone to hold. Emotionally, he missed having someone to love—what he’d lost when his wife died five years ago. Then in pops Dakota, her expressive eyes and innocent smile triggers something deep and intense in him. She’s giving, beautiful and braids hair like a champ. For the first time in a long time, he has an opportunity for happiness, but why can’t he shake the guilt?
When things start to heat up on Havens Ranch, Dakota faces a decision that will change her life forever. Will Cash finally break his internal chains and accept the emotions in his heart, or lose happiness for a second time?
Here is an unedited excerpt from Second Sunrise Cowboy.
Cash stared at Dakota, he couldn’t help but admire her. He wasn’t sure if his relief came more from her closeness or the fact that Brody hadn’t kissed her goodnight—stupid cowboy.
“Were you snooping?” Dakota’s hands slid to her curvy hips.
“Hell no. Nothin’ wrong with a cowboy enjoying fresh air.”
She smiled and he watched her lips. The top was a bit smaller, but that bottom one…wow…perfectly shaped for a kiss. They were shiny as if she’d applied lip tint before she got there, he wondered what flavor. He wanted to taste her, feel her against him. He’d dreamt of kissing her all night. Damn, kissing could be placed on the list of “don’t go there”. He couldn’t offer her a relationship. So what was left? Sex. Lots of it.
His body jerked and his zipper bulged. Yeah, he wasn’t against the idea…not at all.
“You look like the cat who ate the mouse. Got something you need to share?” Her eyes were on him in accusation.
“I didn’t get to tell you before you left, but you looked beautiful tonight.” The words slipped out before he could come up with a good enough excuse not to say them.
A pretty blush teased her cheeks and she lowered her gaze. He liked how she got all bashful when he paid her a compliment, although he didn’t make it a habit. “Oh I just pulled this outfit from my suitcase.”
“I like the jeans, the boots.” He blew a whistle through his teeth. “You’re fitting in here on the ranch.”
“Well, I like when you’re nice, Cash, You should do it more often.” She patted his arm. “I see the love and tenderness in your eyes when it comes to Becca. You know, it’d be okay to allow others to see that side of you too.”
“Yeah…I’ve heard that a time or two.” He winked, shifted his boots and sighed. “Considering you got all dolled up and no cowboy to show you proper attention, I do believe I’m the man to deliver it.” Before he put too much thought into his action, he reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist, dragging her against him. Her eyes widened and her bottom lip puckered–his resistance faded.
He lowered his mouth and kissed her hard, every ounce of desire building within him, urging him to continue. The power of the kiss enveloped them.
Her lips parted, allowing his tongue to slip inside and she moaned deep in her throat. Their bodies pressed together and a commanding lust seeped between them. Her tongue swept across the roof of his mouth, sending an electrical current bursting through him and straight to the tip of his cock.
His body responded readily with uninhibited longing. He tangled his fingers in her hair, keeping her close as he continued thrusting his tongue in and out of her mouth, tasting her, sampling her gift. The rim of his hat touched her forehead, toppled off his head and onto the floor. He didn’t give a damn.
He lowered his mouth, kissing her jaw…her neck and the dip by her throat. She smelled so good. Her scent made him forget the consequences of letting go.

Emerald ‘Em’ Stone wakes up in bed, but not the one she expected.
Lying next to her is a naked cowboy and she isn’t sure how he got there. Slipping back into her wrinkled bridesmaid dress, she starts her plan into action. She has somewhere to be and no time for a cowboy, even if he is wickedly sexy from head to toe.
Nash Walters is wearing only his hat and a five o’clock shadow when a disgruntled Em takes him hostage. She plans to steal a horse and he becomes her unwilling, and very naked, accomplice. The blanket he finds buried in the truck fits him like a skirt, but at least his jewels are covered.
He knew from the start the youngest Stone sister was nothin’ but trouble, and he has time to think it over when she lands him in jail. He isn’t sure if he wants to spread Em over his knee and spank her or kiss the hell out of her. She is the most infuriating woman he’s ever come across, and yet he can’t get enough.
Em is perfectly naughty and strong-willed, and has no plans of changing. She swore off men and relationships, simply because no man is capable of handling her—until Nash. He has life by the balls and he’s aiming to settle down, start a family, and when he sets his sights on Em, she isn’t sure if she should run far away or into his wide, accepting arms.
Can Nash tame the beautiful Stone sister? Or will she bring him to his knees?
