Hum… this is a great topic. And a horrible one at the same time. I headed to my Pinterest account, more specifically my Top 10 Future Husbands board, thinking that would help me out. No such luck. I have the following men on my list who have played superheroes (the number next to their name is their rank in my top ten):
2. Henry Cavill
6. Jeremy Renner
7. Taylor Kitsch
9. Chris Hemsworth
10. Hugh Jackman
Do you see my dilemma? Superman, Hawkeye, Gambit, Thor or Wolverine. Undoubtedly, they’re all sexy in their own ways, but who’s the sexiest?
*walks away for several hours to think about this*
I’ve finally decided, I think. Now bear in mind I’ve taken this literally, as in, which man is hottest when he’s playing a super hero. Not who’s hottest generally, because otherwise the numbers in my list would have answered this easily.
Why? Because Henry Cavill as Superman, although smokin’ hot, is still Superman, who I think is one of the cheesiest superheroes out there. I think it’s the tight outfit and the cape. Even without underpants on the outside, it’s still a bit camp. Now when he’s Clark Kent… phwoar.
Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye is incredibly hot in an all-black tight outfit, super-cool weaponry and awe-inspiring arm porn, but he has just a portion of a movie. Maybe one day Hawkeye will get his own movie, or at least a movie with the Black Widow where we’ll find out what the hell they mean by remembering Budapest very differently (if you’ve read the comics, PLEASE don’t tell me. No spoiler zone!) and he’ll really be able to shine.
Taylor Kitsch as Gambit was delicious. The southern accent, the hair, the outfit, the gorgeousness… but, as with the Renner, he didn’t get enough screen time to really shine, so I can’t vote him sexiest.
Chris Hemsworth as Thor has had two outings so far, where he’s been all tall, blond and muscular, and well, there’s that topless scene which all straight women, and probably lots of straight men, too, remember. The films have been good, he’s had plenty of screen time, tight t-shirts, wet t-shirts, arm porn… but he can’t quite measure up to Wolverine.
So, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. I love the X-Men films, and I loved X-Men Origins: Wolverine, despite what the rest of the world thought about it. I’m writing this post on the 1st August and I’m going to see The Wolverine tonight, so this may change my mind or cement it. Who knows. But at this current moment, I remain resolute. Wolverine is tall, muscular, indestructible, moody, brave, and, ultimately, funny. He gets the best one-liners, and that’s saying something when you consider all the excellent one-liners in Marvel films. All that adds up to a ton of sex appeal, and if I had to choose a superhero to protect me, it would be Wolverine.
So, whaddya think? Agree, disagree? Let me know in the comments!
P.S. If there’s anyone reading this and shouting at me, please don’t. I haven’t read any comic books/graphic novels, so I don’t know who’s the sexiest in those. Though if you have an opinion on this, please let me know in the comments 🙂
