Sex In Uniform

Why is it that when I see a sexy man in uniform (police, fire, military) my mind spins down naughty street? Wow—yours too? It’s not just me? I didn’t think I was the only one. So, why is this? What is the delectable phenomenon about these men that can ignite my libido at the blink of a long-lashed eye?

These men ooze bad-ass qualities. We have been taught to admire them for their strength, kindness and capability of keeping us safe from harm.  Isn’t that the perfect persona of a hero? In my book(s) it is. I have a few uniformed heroes and they rate a 10 on the scale of “bad-ass” meets “admiration.”  Currently, I’m writing a lusty tale (A Sin with Cuffs) of Chief of Police of Raven, Ohio who wears his badge well—and his cuffs like a weapon of kink. As the heroine, a blast from his past, seductively reminds him of their connection, they’ll get down and dirty with “silent law talk.”

I don’t believe it’s legal for an officer of the law to display sexual conduct while in uniform, but this story breaks all of the forbidden rules.  Isn’t that just the way we like it? Fantasy meets reality?

Book Blurb:

Can a past love become their future?

The Thorntons’ mansion is full of timeless secrets waiting to be unraveled. When small-town journalist Ivy and ghost hunter Max are stuck in the forgotten, dilapidated house, they find more than just a haunting. Ivy finds herself dreaming of the former owners, Marcus Thornton and his lovely wife, Elizabeth. Their profound love was once the talk of the town, and the cause their mysterious, untimely deaths never found. When Ivy’s dreams begin to become reality, the mystery starts to unravel and sheds truth on more than just the past.

WARNING: Graphic language, naughty ghosts, a non-committal male, and a love that endures beyond time and death.

Excerpt: Ivy stepped into the corridor. She stopped and listened. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a shadow sweep across the wall. She turned as it disappeared. “Hello?” No answer. She stomped down the hall and burst into the room. “Hello–”

The room was empty.

Ivy swallowed the taste of fright. A shiver raced across her skin. She had seen someone, or had she? She rubbed her eyes. Maybe the shadows were playing tricks on her.

A loud crack in the floor behind her sent Ivy twisting. The sun from the window blinded her. She acted on impulse. She drew her fist back and punched–landing on something solid. The force behind her connection with skin and bone sent her off balance, flailing backward. A hand on her wrist pulled her hard against a steely frame.

She met a dark stare, just as she felt wobbling. The impact of her body had sent him a step back. He lost his balance. Together they fell. The air whooshed from his chest as Ivy landed on top of the stranger.

She closed her eyes and remained still. She wanted nothing more than for the floor to swallow her. Several long seconds floated by. Neither of them said a word. She finally opened her eyes.

Embarrassed and confused, Ivy laid her palms against his shoulders, pushing herself up. She looked directly into his not-so-pleased expression and gulped. Enchanting green eyes, prominent cheekbones, midnight hair…and a pissed-off set to his jaw. She’d made a mistake–a huge one. “Max Shepard.” It wasn’t a question.

He narrowed his eyes. “Ivy Kennedy, journalist and amateur boxer?”

The deep, rich tone of his voice did funny things to the pit of her stomach. His voice wasn’t the only toned part of him. Pressed together gave her an up close and personal testimonial of his physical assets. Broad chest, tight abs to long legs, she could feel tight muscles and a curious bulge. She scooted her hip around the swelling in his jeans. Heat and realization spread through her body.

One corner of his mouth lifted. “It’s my cell.” Could he see straight through her?

He reached into his pocket and held up his phone. Ivy was certain her skin changed into the perfect color of mortification. She wondered just how bad this could get. Pasting a smile on her face, she said, “Nice to meet you.” The temperature rose between them into the triple digits. Their bodies seemed to melt together. He didn’t look like the pictures she’d seen on the internet. He looked more distinguished in person. “You’re older than I thought,” she blurted.

“Older, in a good way.” She licked her bottom lip and nervously pushed her hair behind her ear. “My mother said I have a bad habit of saying the most awkward things and rambling–” She swallowed. “–like I am now.” She moved slightly.

His zipper started to swell again. Was that another cell phone in his pocket, or… Before her mind could complete the thought, he wrapped his large hands around her waist and lifted her off him. He set her on her feet as he came to stand in front of her. “That’s better,” he said as he backed up. “Damn.” He kicked rug that must have been the reason behind their fall.

He stood there, silent. This was a complete disaster. She’d managed to give him a black eye to match the dark scowl on his face. She needed to start searching for a new job. Marshall would have her head for this.

How Sweet It Is

In a former life I wanted to be a pastry chef. I believed in this so much that I went to school for this and did receive my degree in Culinary Arts. Baking is the one thing where one can really get their hands dirty and creativity can run rampant.

During my school days we got to work in many mediums and because our class was so small, just three people, we explored lots of chocolate work, flambes, sugar work. Working with chocolate is very forgiving, if something goes wrong you can always melt it down and start over, working with sugar, pastillage is an edible sugar dough that dries very hard. A baker can create flowers, people, hearts, or any number of things to place on cupcakes, cakes or candy.

I didn’t become a pastry chef, but I used the knowledge I gained as a student to become a cake decorator. Going from creativity to production was an interesting experience, but every once and a while I got flex my creative muscle.

This was the inspiration for my upcoming release, The Baker’s Touch, an erotic romance from Sugar and Spice Press. Here’s the blurb.

Valentine’s is always a busy time of year for PB and J Bakery. With love fueling the need for sweet confections, there’s always room for romance. Even the anonymous gifts left for Penelope, by a secret admirer, are a welcome distraction from the chaos of chocolate and spongecake.

Penelope Bishop has an idea who’s sending the gifts, or at least she hopes it’s her sexy mystery man who stole a kiss on New Year’s Eve. The trouble is, she’s never seen him. Her only clues are dancing skills, a great pair of lips, and a sensual voice that haunts her dreams and every waking fantasy. All that pales when her assistant, Avery, inspires those same lustful thoughts.

Avery has loved Penelope from afar, but with her recent breakup, he doubts she’ll view him beyond the current role he has in her life…seeing eye person. He has one chance to woo a woman who defines her world through touch, scent, sound, and taste–think outside the dating box. When an old flame comes courting and makes Penelope an offer she just may accept, Avery has one last opportunity to make her his Valentine…he’ll have to bare all.

Sexy Magician – Smoke and Mirrors

One of the coolest things about digital publishing is that books don’t go out of print. When I find a new-to-me author that I love, I can go back and check out her backlist and read more great stories that had been released previously.

I was watching TV the other night and one of the characters was practicing magic – as in, illusions, sleight of hand stuff, not actual paranormal spells and such. It reminded me of one of my favorite stories, a novella that was released by Ellora’s Cave titled Smoke and Mirrors. I had so much fun writing this story about a sexy magician and the girl he left behind.

It’s a very sensual story and I loved the way the cover captures that. Here’s the blurb:

Love is nothing but an illusion. Heiress Gabriella Winslow learned that lesson years ago when her magician boyfriend abandoned her, sick and alone, hundreds of miles from home. In the years that followed, she’s tried to forget him and the erotic bondage games they used to play. But the life she’s made for herself since then still leaves her restless and yearning for something more. Now a successful illusionist, Alexander Black has returned to settle an old score. And to seduce Gabriella. With a blindfold and handcuffs and blood red roses, he entices his former lover and magician’s assistant back to his Las Vegas penthouse. Alex is an expert at smoke and mirrors. If all goes according to plan, she’ll never even know she’s his prisoner.

“Gabriella,” he murmured and captured her lips with his.

Soft and gentle at first, he brushed his lips against hers, teasing her with his taste, so intoxicating, so familiar. Gaby parted her lips for him, aching for his tongue to plunge into her mouth. But he didn’t do that right away. He swept his tongue along her lips, wetting them, making them slick. Making her yearn to drink him in.

Her body itched with restless need. She didn’t want sweet and gentle. She didn’t want anything close to emotional.  She needed hard and hot and physical. And she needed it now.

Maybe he was psychic too, for just as she was about to reach up and pull him closer, he slid his hands down her arms and pinned her wrists to her sides, still sweeping  his tongue back and forth across her lips,.

Then he began to nibble.

First he nipped at her bottom lip, hard enough that she wondered if he drew blood. Then he ran his mouth along her jaw line, sucking and nipping until he reached the tender skin of her neck. She shivered with delight.

“You’re so delicious,” he murmured. “A rare treat for my taste buds.”

Gaby laughed out loud. “You’re so full of shit.”

Alex shook his head slowly. “Gabriella, we have to talk about that mouth of yours.”

“You like my mouth,” she said and ran her lips along his throat. “You love my mouth. The way it tastes. The things it does.”

He released her wrists then and grasped her shoulders, pulling her tight against him. His hard cock pressed into her stomach and a thrill of arousal ran through her. This time, when he took her mouth, he was no longer gentle, but the bruising kiss was just what she needed. He plunged his tongue inside and she had what she wanted at last. Her senses whirled as he circled the interior of her mouth, stroking the recesses, coaxing another groan from deep within her.

He ran his hands beneath her hair and brushed his fingers along her neck, drawing them along her throat, sending sparks of sensation shooting along her skin. She pressed her hips harder against him, the desire whirling stronger. The need building, concentrating between her legs. She clenched her bare pussy as tingles of arousal prickled the sensitive flesh.

Alex moaned and cupped her shoulders, sliding his thumbs beneath the neckline of her dress. She was certain he was going to pull the dress down as he had in the limo. Her skin was so heated, her breasts so swollen, her pussy so wet, she silently urged him to get the damn dress off her.

But he didn’t.

Instead he slowly slipped his fingers from under her dress and lifted his lips from hers. He swallowed and stared at her, his dark eyes unreadable. “I forgot. You didn’t want to have sex again.” He scooped her wineglass off the table with one graceful move. “How’s the Chardonnay? Shall I refill your glass?”

I love a sexy, confident hero who has just a touch of insecurity, especially where the heroine’s feelings are concerned. This sexy magician is one of my favorite heroes.

If you’d like to read Alex and Gaby’s story, Smoke and Mirrors is only 99 cents from the Ellora’s Cave website.

She was my first? Who was yours?

Cassie RyanDo you remember the first erotic romance you ever read? I do. I had no idea these books were out there. Yup, I was totally clueless. Oh sure, I’d read romances for years, but erotic romance? Actually, it sounded too good to be true 🙂

I had joined a romance writers’ group and had been a member for a few months when one of the published authors who had been very nice to me, brought her books for a signing. I wanted to support her because she had been so free with information about publishers and agents and the writing life. So I bought her book, CEREMONY OF SEDUCTION, by ReesCassie Ryan. I got it home and started reading. OMG! This was great! A world where sex was a given and citizens enjoyed it wherever they were. Of course, then I had to buy all of Cassie Ryan’s books as fast as Kensington could put them out.  Next was Allyson James, another author in our group, who’s steamy Shareem with Ellora’s Cave had me hooked and hooked deep. Thankfully, she had a complete series already written for me to devour, men created to serve women on three different levels. I started with Rees and didn’t look back.

masque_msr finalWhat was it about the combination of erotic explicit sex and the trials and tribulations of romance? I had to investigate further by reading more and more 🙂 Then I just had to start writing an erotic romance, and then two, and of course, I couldn’t stop. Now I have my own erotic romance being published by Ellora’s Cave. I wonder if MASQUE by Lexi Post will be someone else’s first. I hope that someone, a virgin reader of erotic romance, will follow Rena and Synn through the Pleasure Rooms and fall in lust and love with them and this genre. Who knows?

So who was your first erotic romance author? Do you remember?

Welcome Guest Blogger Sidney Bristol to the Smutters~

Hi, I’m Sidney and I’m a trashy TV addict.

It’s true, I like really bad reality TV. One of my favorites just came back on the air. It’s called Millionaire Matchmaker. The concept of the show follows a California matchmaker who focuses on the millionaire clientele in Las Angeles. The show is glitzy and each date that the bachelors go on is straight out of a modern fairy tale. Plane trips to other states, exotic locations, romantic dinners. I swear half the time I watch just to see where the dates are going this time. But beyond that, it’s pretty interesting to see what types of people are on the show.

There are about three types of men who use this service: The nice guys who haven’t caught a break, those with a little baggage that’s held them back and douche bags. In one of the latest episodes, the two bachelors fell in the first and third category. While the nice guy admitted during a conversation to enjoy cuddling, the other was kind of a jerk about it. He said, and I kid you not, “Men who like to cuddle don’t get laid.”

What world does this guy live in? photo bigstock_Monochrome_Picture_Of_Sweet_Co_2260245_zpsf29a7afe.jpg

Where is it that some good cuddling, a little spooning just doesn’t lead to more? Ever.

So many we aren’t all super cuddly women. I’ll admit that I don’t always want to cuddle. I live in Texas where it’s regularly over 100 degrees and the idea of being pressed up to another body would be just a little bit more of hell, but even then a little cuddling now and then is nice. Times like now, when it’s frigid by Texas standards, I could cuddle all day and be pretty darn happy.

I’m not sure where the macho idea that cuddling is a bad idea came from. It would seem to me that not cuddling is rather counter-productive to the getting laid bit. Women are motivated by our emotions. By touch and feel.

I think it goes without saying that some of the best romance heroes are also down for a little cuddling time. Boy, what would men learn if they read a few romance novels sometime?

Besides just feeling good, did you know that there are also health benefits to cuddling?

The physical act of touching intimately releases oxytocin, which makes us feel better about ourselves and creates a sense of happiness. Oxytocin also helps to reduce stress and lower blood pressure. The more cuddling you do, the more it releases into your system. The body can also release dopamine. No, that’s not a drug, it’s a real hormone that raises a person’s sexual desire.

So pretty much, if you want to be healthier, go cuddle someone you love. And that guy who was so down on cuddling? He also got dumped mid-date, so don’t listen to him.

photo SidneyBristol_zpsb33f6ab3.jpgIt can never be said that Sidney Bristol has had a ‘normal’ life.  She is a recovering roller derby queen, former missionary, and tattoo addict. She grew up in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents. Sidney has lived abroad in both Russia and Thailand, working with children and teenagers. She now lives in Texas where she splits her time between a job she loves, writing, reading and belly dancing.

Bound with Pearls   Ellora’s Cave | Barnes and Noble | Amazon photo boundwithpearls_50_zps5b0e75f4.jpg

The last thing Christine wants to do is another favor for her sister, but Lucy always gets what she wants. This time it’s Chris playing sub to a demanding Dom. Their relationship begins with a power exchange and progresses to time spent between the sheets. Now emotions are getting complicated and the Dom isn’t just a hunky guy in black.

Daniel’s expectations are turned upside down when he meets Chris. She’s more than a well-trained submissive. She’s a woman with a body he wants to memorize. He’s willing to spend as much time as it takes to learn her, because she might be his match and his muse. He’ll make her come so hard he’s imprinted on every inch, and then he’ll offer her the most precious thing he can, himself.

The Allure of the Smuttastic

This will probably come as a shocker to anyone who has read my books, and particularly for anyone who has ever chatted with me, but my mind hasn’t always been a fantastically smutty wonderland filled with hot naked werewolves and sex swings. No, that particular odyssey didn’t take fruition until late 2009, when I wisely asked my editor if she thought I should try my hand at writing a menage. At the time, I was continuously getting beaten over the head by my muse (she’s exceptionally mean to me, let me tell ya.) with this sparkling plot bunny involving two dragon brothers and the woman they’ve been sent to collect as their sacrifice.

I’ll be honest, a menage was so far removed from anything I’d written before, it actually scared me to contemplate writing one. But there was also a part of me that loved the challenge of stepping out of my comfort zone. When my editor gave me her wholehearted approval for the idea, I jumped in with eyes wide open and no freakin’ clue of the monster I was about to create. No, I’m not talking about my dragon beasties, but the insatiable smutter hunter I would become. That’s right. Smutter hunter. Plop a fedora on my head and a dick-shaped pencil in my hand and I’ll put Indiana Jones to shame. But I digress. Once I’d unleashed that Pandora’s box of kinky delights there was no way I could shut it again. Trust me, I’ve tried. But no matter how hard I attempt to convince them otherwise, my characters keep insisting on kinking up the pages of my books. They’re insatiable, incorrigible, and a bunch of other words that start with “In” that I’m too lazy to go look up in the dictionary. But you get my drift. So this brought me to my own shocking epiphany. Is it possible that I’ve always been drawn to the smuttastic, but for whatever reason, I’d muted out my muse before that fateful book? Just. Possibly.

You see, I’ve always been one of those readers who’d get irrationally huffy if I accidentally fell across a book that presented the promise of hot times between the sheets but failed to deliver the goods. Closed door sex?!? WTF?!? I’ll say it again for proper and needlessly dramatic emphasis. W.T.F. Just like some readers investigate whether a book has sex in it before they buy, I go out of my way to ensure that it does. Hell, if I was interested in a sex free zone, I’d travel back to my twenties. Ahem. But that’s another story for another time.

So how about you, lovely readers? Do you ever get irrationally huffy when the book you’re reading falls short in the sex department? Or have you read some really excellent ones where it didn’t matter? And for those who might be wondering, that kinky dragon menage book is Light My Fire. If you’re interested in a properly smuttastic excerpt, read on for a peek into the book that started my smutter hunter journey.

Double the firepower, triple the heat…

Aiden Fortune’s orders are clear: Find the woman, claim her as a sexual sacrifice—and share her with his horndog twin brother. Distasteful as it is, the Drakoni council insists the ancient custom be honored. Or Aiden will be banished.

One glance at Dana Cooper, and Aiden is thrown into the dragon version of a tailspin. Claim her? Hell, yes, he’ll claim her. Problem is, she has no idea her father signed away her destiny at birth.

Dana has dated enough whack-a-doodles to fill an insane asylum. Two gorgeous men claiming to be dragons? Par for the course. Until they give her a tantalizing glimpse of their inner beasts, which makes her think she’s the one headed for a padded cell—for actually considering their offer of the hottest sex of her life, for life.

Her resistance melts away under the onslaught of two men who pack enough heat to set off smoke alarms in a six-block radius. Especially when she realizes she’s falling for Aiden. But with a town full of dragon hunters and an enemy lurking in the shadows, surviving a week of Aiden and Jace’s double-teaming will be the least of her problems…

Warning: Contains two smokin’ hot dragons and their not-so-unwilling sacrifice. A few wardrobe malfunctions and inappropriate use of paintbrushes. You might want to have your local fire department on speed dial.

Hump Day thoughts, updates, and a huge shout out.

I love Hump Day, don’t you? It’s the middle of the week and that much closer to the weekend, and we all love weekends, right? 😀

I guess I’ll post a bit of an update with what’s going on in my world these days. BTW if you haven’t had an opportunity to check out the huge giveaway, we’re doing, just look to your right and see how fab the prize is. Pretty tempting isn’t it?

So I’ve been pretty much working on my edits for A Gift From Fate, which will be coming out in March. I’ll be sure to post a blurb and cover art, once it has come in and is approved.

I’ve also had Harlequin author Vicki Essex on my site, and she’s doing a giveaway of her latest release. That contest will end Saturday night, so be sure to stop by and say hi at:

One final thought. For those who have followed me these last few years, then you know that I’ve participated weekly on Six Sentence Sunday. It was a weekly blog hop if you will, that was the brainchild of author Sara Brookes. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I learned by participating, and how many wonderful people I met through the site. Sadly, after this Sunday, SSS will end, and quite frankly, I don’t think anything could compare to the likes of it. A few have started, but I hate to say it, they simply aren’t the same. I commend Sara for all her hard work in maintaining the site, as well as the admins in how they assisted in keeping this regulated and moving. One doesn’t appreciate the amount of time and effort that went into making it possible unless you witnessed it. I kid you not, that hours upon hours was spent: fixing the code if the list didn’t show, verifying links for a variety of reasons, and most of all just to make sure things went smoothly for us the readers. So a huge thank you to Sara and the admins. I’ll miss ya, and wish you gals the best on your future endeavors. *sniff sniff*

Okay, so I better get going before I get all maudlin. I’ll be back again on January 30th, hopefully offering you my readers, a sneak peak into A Gift From Fate. Until then… arrivederci!

I Like a Cowboy With a Slow Hand

In my brand new release, Dallas is taking his sweet time with Kira, but she’s ready for the waiting to be over, and the hot sex to begin. (Aren’t we all like that?) Oh, believe me when I tell you there is plenty of hot, wild lovin’ going on later in the book, but the first time they’re together, Dallas is slow and easy, getting to know every inch of his beautiful redhead.

That’s one thing I like about cowboys – at least the cowboys that I write. They like to see their woman enjoying herself. Especially in bed. They have a sexy, thorough way of making her lose control and scream in ecstasy.

It may be the long, lonely hours out riding the range that make them want to savor every second their lips are on their lady. It could be the wild eight-second ride on a bucking bronc that makes a cowboy need to take their loving slow and sweet. Or it could be the dangerous moments when a sheriff or Texas Ranger risks their lives that gives them an appreciation for the intensity of seduction.

When you dream about rustling up a cowboy for yourself, what’s his job? Ranch owner? Rodeo bull fighter? Lawman? Professional country line dancer? (I just threw that one in there to see if you were listening! LOL)

Cowboy Jackpot Valentine 360x540

BOOK BLURB: A fortuitous spin of a Las Vegas roulette wheel links New York accountant Kira Morrow and rodeo bareback rider Dallas Burns. The heat that has flared between them since their first meeting threatens to burn out of control as they share sinful nights and hot days. As their mutual distrust resurfaces, the flames quickly die. Only when Kira walks out of his life forever does Dallas realize he needs to stop letting past hurts prevent him from opening his heart to love. Is it too late to repair the damage he’s done and reclaim the heart of the woman he’s fallen for?

Want to read a the beginning of this scene? I’ve posted the first half of the scene at Wild and Wicked Cowboys Blog. Head over there and read the sexy way Dallas gets Kira into this position!

EXCERPT: Kira’s brain fuzzed and dimmed. Her sexy cowboy with his head between her legs had already stoked her so high and hot, she could come with his next lick. She’d never experienced anything as tender and sensual as Dallas’s seduction.

Lying on her side, she looked down and forced her eyes open. The dimming in her head was due to the sun dropping below the mountains, but the fuzzing was all him.

His dark head lay on her thigh, his short hair soft against her skin. His hands on her legs held her where he wanted her as his lips created magic that pulsed in her core and flooded her pussy.

“God, you taste good.” His muffled voice reached her as he sucked her swollen folds into his mouth.

Reaching down with one hand, Kira tunneled her fingers through his hair. Her breathing sped and her hips and ass tightened. Tingles of pleasure raced through her belly and climbed her spine to batter at the precarious control she held over her looming orgasm.

He shifted and his tongue plunged into her slit, fucking her in a slow rhythm that started her shaking.

“Dallas, I’m close.”

“Sweetheart, hang on. I haven’t eaten my fill yet.”

She dropped her head back and concentrated on holding off, centering her thoughts on his talented mouth.

Placing hot, open-mouthed kisses on her pussy lips, he touched her everywhere he could reach. Her thighs, her mound, then, finally, her clit. His lips sucked her bud, gently at first, then he nipped it between his teeth and set his tongue fluttering quickly, ingenious little flicks that sent a bolt of heat racing up her spine to blow her control to pieces and send her spinning wildly into a manic orgasm.

He held her bucking hips as she left her body and twisted through waves of pleasure so intense, she couldn’t catch her breath. Darkness engulfed her, punctuated by lightning streaks of delight as his tongue worked faster, sending her deeper.

Another orgasm ricocheted through her, making her scream with bliss. She reached complete weightlessness and slowly descended, returning to her body, regaining her brain function, and quivering down low where Dallas softly kissed her and lapped up her juices.

“Sweetheart. Nothing has ever been so right.”

“So good,” she managed to pant. Twin orgasms that shook her, body and soul. Could she survive the orgasms he’d give her with his cock pounding deep into her?

He lifted her leg, left the bed, and within seconds spooned himself behind her, holding her tight, kissing her ear, her neck, and whispering gentle words. His cock lay hard and hot against her ass.

“Dallas.” She forced open her eyes to see the spectacular colors of the sunset over the twinkling lights of Vegas. “You were brilliant.”

He chuckled, and the vibration worked its way into her. “Glad I pleased you, ma’am.” He nibbled her shoulder. “Twice, if my accounting is correct.”

A lazy smile curved her mouth and she turned to look at him.

In the evocative lighting, his eyes shone, dark and passionate.

He kissed her, filling her with the taste of beer and whiskey combined with his natural spiciness and the lingering taste of her own juices. His scent invaded her and she breathed deeply of musky male.

Her nipples puckered and a chill raced along her spine. She wanted more. Wanted all of him, inside her, on top of her, taking her, taking what he wanted from her.

“Kira.” He whispered the words against her lips. “Let me make love to you.”

Cowboy Meet and Greet–Hard Ridin’ by Em Petrova~

Hello Smutters! I’m gearing up for my upcoming Feb 5 Samhain release of HARD RIDIN’. This contemporary cowboy story is set under the big skies of Wyoming in a little town called Reedy.

Caution: Contains two sexy cowboys who want the same woman; and, in winning her heart, they discover a steaming-hot attraction for each other.

Note from my editor about “the” big moment: I love the hell out of this scene. I mean seriously. It is gorgeous and dirty and I have not stopped thinking about it since I first read it.

Read on for the opening scene of Hard Ridin’, available for pre-order at Samhain and Amazon.

Jens Anderson hooked Laurel around the waist and tugged her close as the twangy two-step faded away. The low drawl of a slow song drifted from the speakers flanking the dance floor.

As Laurel came up against the wall of muscle that made up Jens’s body, a sigh escaped her.
He splayed a hand over her lower back and crushed her hips to his. The action sent a dark thrill through her belly, and lower, between her thighs.

Jens skimmed the crest of her buttocks with his fingers. “I love you in this skirt, Laurel. When are you gonna let me peel it off you?”

His baritone rumbled against her ear and raised every hair on her body. Was this the night she let the rough-and-tumble country boy make it past second base? Being stretched out beneath him, gaining and delivering pleasure, seemed the best way to spend a weekend.
Better than being alone, scouring seed catalogs for the best deals.

She fiddled with a strand of hair clinging to the perspiration on her temple. For two months, she’d been asking herself if he was the one—if she could let him past the barricade she’d erected around her heart.

When she didn’t answer him, Jens continued to twirl her around the dance floor, easily navigating between other swaying bodies. He was one hell of a dancer, and he was also used to her ignoring his advances. Countless times he’d asked her to spend the night with him, but even after two months of dating, she wasn’t ready.
It wasn’t because the man was lacking in any way. Oh no. At six foot tall, with shoulders made bulky from wrangling livestock and farm equipment, he was wanted by every girl in the small town of Reedy.

But that was just his body. His eyes were the true allure. Sapphire and twinkling with life, he’d hooked Laurel from the moment he’d pierced her with that gaze.

He nudged her away from him, twirled her and reeled her back in. Their hips bumped and his erection pressed against her aching flesh.

He gave a huff of laughter. “You caught me. I can’t help it. I’m wild about you, darlin’.”

For a moment, she lost herself in his bright gaze. His cowboy hat was tugged low over his brow, but the depths of his baby blues glittered with desire. Laurel’s nipples hardened, and the knot in her core tightened. Why was she dragging her heels with Jens? He was everything a woman could want—sexy, a hard worker, a great dancer, and he even grilled a mean steak.

The music pitched lower and the singer crooned love words. Jens looked deep into Laurel’s eyes. Cupping her face in one big palm, he leaned in slowly. His scent dizzied her—mint and a hint of the beer he’d drank, as well as cologne. Washed cotton shirt and leather boots.

One hundred percent man.

Laurel and Jens rocked back and forth, with him singing in a low voice that sent white-hot electricity through her heated limbs.

In that minute, the warm cocoon of his arms was the only place she wanted to be.

He dropped his full lips to hers and she couldn’t suppress a shudder of want. Jens squeezed her to him, drawing her onto tiptoe and somehow still undulating to the beat. He pressed on her lips with his tongue, and she opened to him.

Sensation was a punch to her system as he slipped his tongue over hers. The bodies around
them disappeared, the clank of beer bottles and the hum of voices vanished.

“What the—? Laurel?”

She jerked at the sound of that familiar voice—the only other voice to ever send her spinning out of control. Jens released her, and they turned as one to face the reason she continued to hold Jens at arm’s length—the reason she wasn’t ready to take their relationship to the next level.
